FAVORITE MUSIC

These are some of the CDs I use for my classes. They are all great and you can't go wrong buying them:

Dudu Tucci - Obatimale
I use this one for warm up most of the time. Dudu Tucci is a great Brazilian percussionist who now lives in Germany. This CD has many different rythmes such as Ijexa, Samba de roda, Samba reggae, Maracatu and a much more. Basically every track is different.

Afros Afoxes da Bahia compilation
This one as well is used for my warm up.It has songs from Gilberto Gil and Margareth Menezes, but also from Singers and Blocos not as widely known outside Brazil such as Tribo Nacao Ijexa and Paulinho Feijao. Overall it is an excellent CD and a great way to learn about earthy Bahia music.

Carlinhos Brown-Alfagamabetizado
Carlinhos Brown is one of the most popular Brazilian artist of the last decade. He is a great musician abd singer and composes for many Famous Brazilian singers. He is very original and versatile

Timbalada - Their first CD (?)
This is the 1993 CD which made Timbalada famous. It features the famous "Toque de Timbaleiro" and "Beija-Flor", not too mention the song "Emilio" sang by George Ben on this CD.

Timbalada - ...Pense minha cor...
Timbalada last CD. A great one from beginning to end, maybe a bit more versatile than any other Timbalada CD.

Daniela Mercury - O canto da cidade
This is the 1992 CD which made Daniela Mercury famous. The album features song written by Carlinhos Brown, Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque. It is a great album to listen and Dance to, thanks to Daniela Mercury's strong voice and the percussion by members of Bloco Ile Aye.

Daniela Mercury - Her latest CD
Too me it is the best of Daniela Mercury. Again the Percussion (by members of Ile Aye) is hard to resist. The album features mainly Samba-Reggae and Axe rhythms but also has some Hip-Hop, a duo with Benin singer Angelique Kidjo and a techno track (I usualy hate techno but this one even I like).
